![]() Tracy Effinger is the creator of the unique fitness workout, SQUEEZE, which has gained her national attention. She has been featured on CBS News and in major publications, including Allure, Self, Shape, Los Angeles Times, and Los Angeles Magazine. Her clients include celebrities, such as Sela Ward, Amy Brenneman, Renee Zellwegger, Jennifer Grey, Dyan Cannon, Marla Maples and Will Ferrell. She is also the co-author of The Wedding Workout. This book is intended to help the bride-to-be tone up, increase her stamina, improve her posture and trim down, if she needs to. As an on camera talent herself, Tracy understands the pressure Hollywood puts on stars to stay in great shape. However, she believes that people should be healthy, not skinny. Tracy has appeared on TV in Pacific Blue, The Judds Movie, The Pauley Shore Show, and Judging Amy. She has also hosted numerous infomercials as well as a talk show called "Look Good! Feel Great!" A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Tracy was always very athletic and achievement oriented. During high school, she played many sports and went on to become a competitive Junior Olympic Athlete. However, Tracy's athletic aspirations were crushed when she shattered an ankle and underwent a series of reconstructive surgeries using plates and pins to replace bone. While recovering, Tracy tried many different types of exercise, including the Lotte Burke Method, Callanetics, yoga, and ballet. While attending Princeton University, Tracy took her first acting class. After graduating from Princeton with a B.S. in Psychology, she attended The Actors Theatre Louisville. A Los Angeles agent spotted Tracy and encouraged her to move to Los Angeles. To support herself while she got her acting career going, Tracy turned to the thing she loved and knew best; athletics. She received her fitness trainer certification from the Academy of Sports Medicine, then began working as a trainer in some of Los Angeles' best gyms. Tracy continued to study various forms of exercise, combining some techniques and creating some of her own to develop SQUEEZE; a form of exercise that strengthens, lengthens and tones the muscles without using heavy weights. Tracy describes SQUEEZE as a fun, athletic combination of yoga, ballet, and isometric exercises. The intention is to create long, lean bodies. Tracy teaches SQUEEZE classes and private training sessions throughout Los Angeles. A background in psychology has helped Tracy to understand how to motivate her clients. She believes it is important to encourage them and to make exercising a fun, positive thing. Her goal is to increase her clients' self esteem by challenging them physically. "Practicing SQUEEZE is an athletic discipline and an art form for me," Tracy said. "It's a very personal approach to life that I have the honor of sharing with other people." Tracy's other art forms are painting and voice over. She occasionally shows her paintings at art galleries and in shows. |
